Begin your SMU journey with Head Start, a 4-day programme by the Student Success Centre (SSC) designed to help you transition smoothly into SMU.

Dates: 29–30 June 2026 & 2–3 July 2026

Unlock key insights with UniReady and learn how to:

  • Thrive at SMU – Gain practical skills for campus life.
  • Navigate learning platforms – Access resources and tools with ease.
  • Boost your research skills – Get ahead with LIB001 Library Research Skills.
  • Learn from those who’ve been there – Gain insights from alumni and seniors.
  • Join a supportive community – Connect with peers as you embark on your university journey.

Get READy, Write Now! (2 days)

To succeed in your first year, you will need to be able to read critically and write effectively. This is especially true in your Core Curriculum modules such as Writing and Reasoning, and Big Questions. Join us for this workshop and learn how to:

  • Formulate a Clear Position
  • Evaluate Secondary Sources
  • Create Coherent Written Pieces
  • Use Appropriate Referencing Style

Head Start For International Students only

The Student Success Centre (SSC) is offering a comprehensive 1-day Head Start programme on 12 August 2026, exclusively for international students. This programme is designed to provide essential support, guidance, and resources to help you adapt, integrate, and thrive both academically and culturally.

Take this opportunity to gain valuable insights and practical skills to start your SMU journey with confidence. During the programme, you will learn how to:

  • Navigate learning platforms – Access academic resources and tools with ease.
  • Practice cross-cultural communication – Build confidence engaging with peers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Adjust to life in Singapore – Receive practical guidance on settling in.
  • Build a local support network – Connect with fellow students for meaningful support.

English Language Support Programme (ELSP) For Year 1 International Students

The ELSP is designed to help international students use English effectively to succeed in the university. Students will use a variety of strategies to help them write and speak effectively, participate in class discussions, contribute meaningfully in teamwork and improve their communication skills.
